If you ask me what's more important, sex or romance, it's sex. Romance is just a gloss, some sort of sheen that wears off, and it loses its lustre very soon.

I placed an online order with Amazon yesterday for ZEBRONICS headphones with mic (Rs. 699) and got it today - it is an HP product (Hewlett Packard/HP is a top US computer company - WOW!), available for such a low price thanks to friendly technological cooperation between China and India - made in China, office in Bengaluru) - it has an extra feature I did not see before with similar devices made by other companies: it offers the option of using an earphone jack for listening OR the earphone jack can be inserted into a "female jack" to which an earphone jack (BLACK) and a microphone jack (BLUE) are attached.

FINGERS wired headphones with mic, which I bought last year for Rs. 600 (if I remember correctly) from a nearby local mobile shop (several models are now available online from Amazon), is also quite good considering its very low price. From the name "FINGERS" and use of a "FEMALE JACK" in ZEBRONICS product, it seems that FINGERS and ZEBRONICS may be products of the same company.

NOTE ADDED (April 10, 2024): I am not sure what HP means in HP headset - it could mean Head Phones or Himachal Pradesh or something else and may not be short for Hewlett Packard. Later, his grandmother, who was present at the time of his birth in the village, told him that he was born in the month of Badroo - some time in August - and so he decided to fix it in the middle of the month, to 15 August 1915; thirty-two years later, 15 August became India's INDEPENDENCE DAY! A HEADSET

A combination of headphone and mic is called a HEADSET. (Google)

I bought LOGITECH headset (headphone and built-in mic) for about Rs. 1600 (or was it Rs. 1800?) about two years ago - it gives good quality audio - sponge ear pads got torn but I recently bought sponge ear pads at low price from Amazon. The reason for My seeming "obsession" with several types of headphones with mic is how to get a reasonably OK audio recording for My audio podcasts at low price - I don't want to buy headsets for 15,000, 20,000, 30,000 rupees and above because of budget constrains and because I don't want to show off and above all because it is the voice quality that counts, not expensive equipment, besides the fact that podcasting is only just an enjoyable "time pass" HOBBY for Me. - G

I am also planning to try PHILIPS wired headphones with mic (Amazon ₹1,200*)

I have suddenly realized today (April 10, 2024) that in a "headset" (headphones with mic) we should look at headphones frequency response (the human voice range is 20 to 20,000 Hz; all headphones I have checked with Google seem to have this frequency response) but I think "podcasters" who do audio recording should also look at the microphone frequency response which can be variable.

Wiired headsets cost less than bluetooth headsets with battery (to be charged).

I remember watching the movie COCKTAIL in 2012 [now available on YouTube], not so long ago. The plot revolves around a philanderer hero who has to make the tough choice between two hot women. The uber-modern movie was set in London. Two of the characters, the hero and one of the heroines, drink, dance in nightclubs, and have one-night stands. They work in new-age jobs like glamour photography [euphemism for porn videos?] and software design. And yet, the guy eventually chooses the girl who cooks home food, dresses conservatively, wins his mother's approval and is happy to be the ideal Indian wife. In fact, even the rejected girl, a free-spirited, independent woman, agrees to change herself.

While the movie was fun, such depictions disturb me a little. When successful, strong women are portrayed as finding salvation in making dal and roti for their husbands, one wonders what kind of India we are presenting to our little girls.

Really, is that what a woman's life is all about - to make hot phulkas? Of course, I shouldn't be so bothered, many would say. It is a Bollywood movie. The commercial pressure to present a palatable story is real. Above all, the makers have a right to tell the narrative they want.

Yet it is unfair to our women. Many Indian men, even the educated ones, have two distinct profiles of women - the girlfriend material and the wife material. One you party with, the other you take home. The PREJUDICE AGAINST NON-TRADITIONAL WOMEN who assert themselves is strong. [Big words for pr. sn. whose goals in life are prom. s. and ass. their strong BFs and their strong sp.]

My mother worked for forty years. My wife is the chief operating officer (COO)

An enjoyable book on English spelling is NORMAN LEWIS: CORRECT SPELLING MADE EASY (GOYAL, 86, U.B. (University Block), Jawahar Nagar (Kamla Nagar), Delhi - 110007). A funny sentence in the book to show differences in spelling of similar-sounding TWO, TO, TOO: "TWO women TO one man are one TOO many."
