I think I bought a slim paperback copy of LOVE STORY by Erich Segal long ago and it is probably lying on a bookshelf in My personal library. I have not read it yet but from this lady's description of the novel as "a simple love story", I get the impression that the author's hyperactive imagination has created a very strange  unrealistic romantic story that is not a faithful reflection of terrestrial love which seems to be nothing but sex sex sex and cheating on one another and treachery and honey-trapping and spying and even successful or failed murder attempts for no apparent reason or reasons other than acting as brutal Nazi assassins. Terrestrial love is far from simple. It is low-level pr.-gig. f. unions and temporary fake breakups. I imagined Segal to be an Indian because I thought Segal was related to the (awful) Indian singer Sehgal of yesteryear, but I learn from Google sources that Erich Wolf Sehgal is the name of an American author (who keeps on getting reborn in numerous reincarnations, I am sure). By the way, I am not impressed by tiresome stories of death by "cancer" etc. (artificially caused by f***ing Nazi criminals posing as doctors and nurses and by Nazi members in the family and diagnosed by fake lab tests carried out by Nazi criminal cheats pretending to be pathologists and lab specialists using phony equipment). The much-used methods of deception used by Nazi criminals to escape and avoid detection are transforming the body (including sex change) and pretending to have died by forcing a lookalike clone to die on behalf of the escaped Nazis. All f***ing male/female Nazis in all body transformations on Earth and inside Earth are under continuous surveillance and all can be instantly vaporized by LASER.

Skimming through this YA novel, I realized that it is about widespread 'calf love' and should therefore appeal to the vast number of male and female members of the modern young generation in India and in all other countries of the world. This YA romance-and-breakup novel has two very important plus points: (1) it deals with a universal feature of modern life (2) it is written in very simple but interesting English. (I am pretty sure it is written by an anonymous top professional ghost writer.) The YA novel consists of alternating chapters titled "Aditya" and "Radhika" with first person narratives by Aditya and Radhika respectively. Looking at the long list of "Srishti's all time bestsellers ₹ 100 each" after the last page of this novel, I notice that all the titles are about shallow time-pass calf love of the modern generation (from over-ripe so-called "kids" to grown-up adults) - A LITTLE BIT OF LOVE, I TOO HAD A LOVE STORY [a la Savi Sharma], AS LONG AS I LOVE YOU, BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME, CAREFUL WHAT U WISH FOR, CAN'T COOK A LOVE STORY, I WILL LOVE ONCE AGAIN!, CRAZY BLOODY THING LOV [!], CORPORATE ATYAACHAAR, EVERYTHING YOU DESIRE, JAB SE YOU HAVE LOVED ME, JOURNEY OF TWO HEARTS, JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES, LOVE HAPPENS LIKE THAT, IN COURSE OF TRUE LOVE, IF I PRETEND I AM SORRY!, IF GOD WENT TO B-SCHOOL (a la Ravi Subramanian), IF GOD HAD A DESK JOB (a la Ravi Subramanian), I AM STILL COMMITTED, I AM BROKE... LOVE ME, HEARTBREAKS & DREAMS!, FEW THINGS LEFT UNSAID [FEW THINGS or A FEW THINGS?], A FEELING BEYOND WORDS, A LITTLE LOVE INCIDENT, IT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT, A DILLI-MUMBAI LOVE STORY, LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT, LUV IS A DIRTY BUSINESS, MY LOVE NEVER FAKED, PLZ.. KISS ME OR KILL ME, SIMPLE THINGS MAKE LUV, SOMETHING IN YIUR EYES, SHE IS SINGLE I'M TAKEN, "OUCH! THAT 'HEARTS'!", "OOPS! 'I' FELL IN LOVE!", NOTHING FOR YOU MY DEAR, SOMETHING IN YOUR EYES, "LOVE, ME AND BULLSHIT!", "LOVE, LIFE AND LUST", THE THING BETWEEN U & ME, WHEN LIFE TRICKED ME, WHAT... IF NOT I.I.T.?, WILL YOU MARRY ME CUPID?, THREE TIMES LOSER, THOSE SMALL LIL THINGS, THE JOURNEY TO NOWHERE, THE IDIOT-DUDES, THE INDIA I DREAM OF (a la Chetan Bharat), LOVE A RATHER BAD IDEA, LOVE & URBAN MELODRAMA, SUMTHING OF A MOCKTALE (a la Harper Lee: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD), 34 BUBBLEGUMS AND CANDIES, THAT KISS IN THE RAIN, THE EQUATION OF MY LOVE, THE FUNDA OF MIX-OLOGY, THE OFF-SITE TAMASHA, THE QUEST FOR NOTHING!, IT'S ALL ABOUT LOVE, "IT SHOULD BE U!! MY LOVE", BELONG, BOUNDLESS SAGA OF LOVE etc. Very clever titles, I must say. I have a few/I have few of these YA novels at present, which I bought out of My book-buying mania and for their interesting psychological analysis. I notice that names of authors are NOT mentioned. Why? All are ghost-written?!!

"I am not sure," I say. I am shaking my head in disbelief that I'm having this conversation with her.

"If you're not comfortable there, I can send this guy over. You must try him. Trust me," she says. She's been trying her best to convince me.

At home, it will leave Lsxman scandalized and I don't want the neighbours to see a strange man come in. I can't risk it and so, I decide to visit the place. She gives me an address in Greater Kailash. I look down at the address that she has scribbled down on a yellow post-it.

I don't ask Laxman to drive me that day. I just step out casually, as if I am going out for a stroll, but instead take an auto-rickshaw to reach the place. I recognize it immediately. I was so judgmental about the people who ran the place, not knowing that my new best friend had a stake in it.

I enter through the heavy wooden door into a neatly done up reception. A solitary thin man sits behind the desk. 

He ushers me in and politely asks me to wait while he checks on Aditya. I sigh. I am still wondering why this name is so popular when he comes back. He sends me in to one of the rooms. I am still unsure. One part of me wants to bolt out of the door and never come back. I have steeled my nerves in coming here and I don't want to act like a coward now. I enter the door, to see the naked back of a man. The gash on the back, over which I loved to run my finger, tells me that this is him.

Aditya

That we will meet is a certainty. We had never imagined that it will ever be in this setting. She my client, in want of lust; I, the gigolo, short on love but willing to accede. We just stand there, looking at each other, not saying a word, even while the clock ticks on. We don't make love, we don't even have sex - we just hug each other for the void that time and we have created.

She finally breaks the silence, "You don't have to do this". 

The recession has ended and I have been offered a job, but I haven't taken it. This is my life.

"Let's go somewhere else, just not here". I don't realize that she means a different city and not just the raunchy setting of the HappyEndingz Massage Parlour.

She leaves on a Sunday, promising to return by Tuesday. She doesn't.

Her cell phone says that she is not reachable. I know she will come back - for what are we but homing pigeons that have that innate, uncanny ability to find their mate, no matter where you leave them on the face of this earth. She will come back.

The girl sounds very sad and funny in her interesting short book review in Hindi. 

By the way, JOSHIMATH, which is the title of Chapter 1 of the novel and occurs throughout the novel, reminds Me of the Himalayan town Joshimath which was destroyed in January 2023 (last year). Joshimath seems to have been a brutal Nazi rape center for GANG RAPE & TORTURE of female victims by Nazi rapists.
