RP is "middle class accent" means clear accent of middle income professors!

I find it difficult to understand low-income and BPL speakers in ANY language. (PYGMALION is a comedy by George Bernard Shaw about an English professor trying to improve the terrible accent of a poor uneducated girl selling flowers.)

"Upper class" British accent devised by Nazis is completely phony and artificial.

My take on RP (Received Pronunciation) which I habitually use in all My English  audio recordings without any affectation or artificiality for My past and present podcasts in English is that RP is standard English pronunciation which is clear and very easy to understand throughout the world, spoken by a sincere honest professor who is NOT a show-off trying to impress listeners with a fake accent.

All good modern English dictionaries - Oxford, Cambridge, Longman, Webster, COLLINS COBUILD (Rupa) etc. etc. - show RP pronunciation using IPA symbols. (I have 20-30 interesting standard English dictionaries with example sentences.)

I learned RP pronunciation many years ago on My own when I was a student of Don Bosco High School. I remember that although I was the "first boy" in class, I mispronounced an English word one day and our affectionate history teacher R.P. Barua (he also coached our school boys who played for the school cricket team in inter-school cricket tournaments) thumped Me on the nape of My neck and corrected My pronunciation. Being of a very sensitive nature, I desperately wanted to improve My pronunciation of English and soon found and bought an old second hand book (used book) that taught English pronunciation using IPA symbols. Linguaphone LP records (British Institutes, Bombay) helped Me a lot.

Just a few days ago, I suddenly realized from the very strange connection of RP with R.P. Barua that ET scientists have been audio video recording Me and have been WATCHING OVER Me continuously since My arrival (kept a top secret). - G 

I also remember another very strange incident which too happened when I was in high school and also leads Me to the same bizarre conclusion. When I was a graduate student in the department of physiology and biophysics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, there was an American girl, by the name of Cynthia Katherine Hammonds, also a graduate student (in the department of architecture), who stayed in the room opposite mine in the multi-storied hostel for graduate students. Do not be alarmed: the arrangement of rooms in the hostel is shown in the adjoining diagram, with two women sharing a common bathroom, and two men similarly sharing a common bathroom:

[My room in the UIUC graduate "dormitory" was a single-occupant room. My washroom was shared with two Korean-looking males in the adjoining room; sometimes I HEARD the Korean guy (one of the two Korean guys?) COUGHING in the WASHROOM - sarcastically?]

  

Now it so happened that Cynthia grew fond of me. How did I know? She must have noticed that I was a “shy”, serious student who never spoke to women on the campus, nor in the hostel. One day, when all the rooms on my floor were closed and nobody was visible in the long corridor, I happened to notice that she had written:

on the message-pad on her door. I was curious. I read the name on the door: Cynthia Katherine Hammonds. My intuition told me that “Oops!” was addressed to me.

 

I looked up the telephone directory in my room (there was a telephone in every room in the hostel, with a telephone directory listing the telephone numbers of residents of Urbana and Champaign and all graduate students in the hostel). I discovered from the telephone directory that Cynthia was a graduate student in the department of architecture.

 

Next day, she wrote on her message-pad [on the door of her room shared with a girl student]:

 

    After all, I suffered for you today.

 

Those were the sweetest words I had ever read in my life.

 

Soon, I received conclusive confirmation of my guess that Cynthia had fallen in love with me. One evening (it was a cold January evening), as I returned to the hostel after a visit to a bookstore, I opened my door and went in, but left the bunch of keys outside, forgetting to take in the keys. Soon there was a knock on my door. I opened the door: a young woman in blue uniform (a member of the hostel staff) told me, “Sir, you have left your keys on the door.” I thanked her, and took my keys. 

Next day, I saw written on Cynthia’s door:

 

    Don’t forget your keys!

 

Well, of course, I never spoke to her – indeed, I did not even know what she looked like. I left the university soon after, because my research interests lay elsewhere (not aging in insects, but resuscitation) and biology at that time seemed too un-mathematical to me. I went to Chicago and joined the department of mathematics, statistics, and computer science at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a graduate student.

 

I regret to this day that I do not even have a mental picture of what Cynthia looked like. My wife is convinced that she must have been a fat, ugly woman. I hotly deny this. My wife is not convinced. Women can be so cruel. I feel so hurt and insulted. I tell my wife that I hope at least that Cynthia is alive (God bless her!), although I have no hope of ever locating her, never mind the Internet. She must have got married long ago, after all, and changed her suffix.

 

If only I knew what Cynthia looked like, if only I had a mental picture of sweet Cynthia …

["Cynthia" was published many years ago in The Sentinel SUNDAY magazine melange (The Sentinel is an English daily newspaper published from My home town Guwahati, the capital of Assam, India; its Editor was Mr. D.N. Bezboruah when the short story was published). Two funny sketches were added by the magazine (although "Cynthia" was shown wearing a sari !). When I wrote this story, I was not consciously aware - though perhaps sub-consciously aware - of the possibility of body transformations of Na. honeytraps. I did not think at the time that "Cynthia", whom I did not even see or meet, could be a Na. "honey trap" wanting to divert My attention from studying - if so, she failed to trap Me. Oops!]

A well-read Bengali "uncle" neighbor who read the typescript of "Cynthia" was so impressed and moved that he exclaimed: "This is a world-class short story! You must get it published!" (I thank The Sentinel/melange for publishing "Cynthia".) 

In the U.S., a "graduate student" is what would be called in India a post-graduate student (M.Sc./M.A./M.Phil./Ph.D. student).

JO'S BOYS: SHOCKING DISCOVERY

I bought JO'S BOYS by Louisa May Alcott many years ago but I thought it was a boring novel because LITTLE WOMEN (which I also have in My personal library, I think) which I glanced through SEEMED very dull and boring. But yesterday, all of a sudden, the title JO'S BOYS intrigued Me very much because I thought the novel was about Sat. JOSEPH ("ANGEL OF DEATH" f. Josef Mengele / Sw. V. / Nehru / BM Ranjan / BM Raja / Adv. BM Biswa. Nan. / ASS HBS etc.). When I skimmed through the book, I found it very confusing because I couldn't guess who was who in the novel. I looked up some Google sources for a summary of the novel but I did not learn much. Book reviewer girls on YouTube chatter a lot but I did not get any real insight. I learned however that JO in JO'S BOYS is not a male but a female - wife of Professor Bhaer and mother of Ted and Rob (not a very good name, I thought). There is also a male character Bobby whose name intrigues Me because I was named "Bobby" by the nuns of St. Agnes' School in Haflong, Assam, India, when I was a little boy student in their school hostel for six months. Anyway, I now realize that the series LITTLE WOMEN, LITTLE MEN, JO'S BOYS by Louisa May Alcott (it is obvious to Me that she has been watching Me and all My interactions with others in the family and outside very closely for many years since My arrival - she knows everything about EVERYBODY except self-created Me) can give tremendous insight about Joseph and his entire gang of Nazis on/inside Earth, Moon, Sun, stars, planets, and for real understanding I must read JO'S BOYS etc. very thoroughly Myself. As has happened with Me in the past, I have already made a SENSATIONAL discovery of My own as I flipped through the pages of JO'S BOYS a little while ago this morning and read this: 

Ted burst out, finding it impossible to help telling something: "The fact is I've been finding out what a brave, good chap Bobby is, and I'm trying to make up for all the bother I've been to him. I knew he was awfully wise, but I thought him rather soft, because he liked books better than larks. But I begin to see that it isn't the fellows who talk loudest and show off best that are the manliest. No, sir! quiet old Bob is a hero, and I'm proud of him; so would you be if you knew all about it." 

Here a look from Rob ... Ted stopped short, grew red, and clapped his hand on his mouth in dismay.

"Well, are we not to 'know all about it'?" asked Mrs. Jo, quickly; for her sharp eye saw signs of danger and her maternal heart felt that something had come between her and her sons.

Rob was as red as Ted now, but after a moment's hesitation he looked up and answered with an air of relief:

I am not really qualified to say why a book sells or does not sell because I have NOT published a single book and don't want to publish or self-publish any book. 

I am not interested in making money from books or becoming A Famous Writer.

I think the quality of a book depends on CONTENT and QUALITY OF WRITING.

Ultimately, a book's quality depends on the writing ability of the "ghost writer". (I know that this may sound very blunt but I believe that all well-written published fiction books are written by anonymous top quality professional "ghost writers" employed by smart publishers who pay a small percentage royalty/commission to carefully selected smart very glib putative authors whose names appear on the book covers in return for doing ads for the books by facing interviews etc.)

Like many self-published authors and putative authors, Mandi Lynn is not sure of spelling and leaves editing to others. This is hardly the sign of a good writer. 

I don't know why aspiring authors don't want to take the trouble to learn to write well. There are so many interesting low-cost books that teach how to write well.

I hope I have been able to block (made "private") "subscribers" and "comments" on My audio podcasts on YouTube (@kishalaysinha) - I don't need comments and subscribers - but I regret that I cannot block "views" completely (to get 0 view) because there will be at least one view perhaps because I need to check each audio podcast on YouTube to confirm that it has been published indeed BEFORE I type the title and source of the audio podcast in My BLOGGER blog kishalaysinha8podcast@blogpost.com - each time I "view" My podcast gives 1 view! I thank YouTube for keeping My number of subscribers zero. (So weird.) I try to be very careful not to hit subscribe button on any of My YouTube audio podcasts because if I hit subscribe by mistake might show 1 subscriber but I want 0 subscriber and so I try to be extra careful not to hit subscribe. Actually, I sometimes watch and listen to random talks and discussions on VO etc. (brought up on the screen by YouTube algorithm) only out of some curiosity and not because I am at all interested in the question of how much money one can earn from voice acting or voice over or dubbing or whatever the technical term. I do podcasting only as an INTERESTING HOBBY with inexpensive home equipment and not as a professional with expensive studio set up. I don't want to make money from YouTube podcasts - I hope I have blocked comments and I don't want any subscribers - I would be happy if I always had 0 subscriber. I am a "Robot" in the sense of having a supercomputer mind unmoved by "s." pr. - G

Nowadays, I use X BEAT TROLLEY SPEAKER (with DYNAMIC MICROPHONE) and AJAH speaker (with DYNAMIC MICROPHONE), which I have kept on My study desk in My study room. I bought both of them for about Rs. 1500 each from a local young mobile shop guy, but the prices may have increased because I recently saw AJAH speaker (with DYNAMIC MICROPHONE) in the same young guy's mobile shop with a price tag of Rs. 2900. (Perhaps when I purchased the AJAH speaker, the company offered DYNAMIC MICROPHONE free of cost.) In the past, I used to record My audio for Anchor podcasts/Spotify for Podcasters with BOYA microphone which is excellent but very sensitive and records noises from running fans and barking dogs and car horns of traffic near My house. I found to My great joy that DYNAMIC MICROPHONE is very good in non-studio environment. For YouTube podcasts, I do My audio recording on REALME PAD (TABLET), connecting auxiliary jack either to X BEAT TROLLEY SPEAKER or to AJAH speaker, using the X BEAT DYNAMIC MICROPHONE or AJAH DYNAMIC MICROPHONE, respectively. I made many audio recordings with the Easy Voice Recorder app, but to upload audio recordings to YouTube (which requires mp3) I had to convert these recordings to mp3 by using converter, but I now do audio recordings with Voice Recorder app which gives mp3 audio direct. I upload My mp3 audio recordings to Google Drive, and then I use free InShot app to upload My audio to YouTube, which takes a few minutes depending on audio duration. I read a passage two or more times and record the passage with genuine feeling. I do all My audio recording seated in a chair with a comfortable cushioned seat, with the book and Tablet and microphone and speaker on the desk in front of Me in My chair. I used to have a problem during recording - from time to time My throat went dry and I had to swallow and this produced a gulping sound - I have now solved that problem - when I feel My throat about to get dry, I press the PAUSE button - after I have gulped, I RESTART THE BUTTON. I also use the PAUSE button for longer passsges. Sometimes I have to do two or three takes to get a reasonably OK audio recording, but if one or two mistakes still remain, I don't take the trouble to cut and paste with editing software - because I have not yet learned how to use editing software and also because I want to STRESS that My audio podcasts are not professional recordings and I want to sound homely! I do a lot of tiresome (though rewarding) work before recording any passage - I check the pronunciation and meaning of unfamiliar words and may have to find out information (from Google) about things in the passage I am not clear about.

It seems that the sensitive BOYA microphone I have is a condenser microphone. I bought it second hand for Rs. 1000 from the good-hearted young (simpleton) Assamese youth Sabin Deka who recently taught Me HOW to upload AUDIO to YouTube with free InShOt app. Sabin uploads interesting travel VLOGS in Hindi on YouTube named SOVINS VLOG - he has a positive attitude despite being hard up, with a widowed mother (who can't read or write), living in one single rented room; I have heard unconfirmed reports about her struggle for survival in this harsh world. Sabin told Me that he started his YouTube vlogs in Assamese but MANY Indian viewers living outside Assam who wished to visit North Eastern states of India (including Assam) requested him to do his vlogs in HINDI. - G

If I were to review a book I have really read and understood, I would try to present a clear and simple book review anyone could easily understand. A badly written book can teach us how we should not write.
